Software Update: Clonezilla Live 2.8.0-27

Clonezilla is an open source program for creating disk images. Among other things, it is possible to make backups of partitions or of the entire hard disk, or a copy of a hard disk: a so-called clone. Clonezilla is therefore an open source variant of Macrium Reflect and Acronis True Image. The whole thing is based on a Debian distribution and it uses DRBL, Partclone and udpcast. Clonezilla live is intended for standalone computers, while with Clonezilla server and SE up to 40 computers can be imaged simultaneously. With version number 2.8.0-27 a new stable release of Clonezilla has been released and the changelog of that version looks like this:

Enhancements and Changes

• The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2021/Nov/17).
• Linux kernel was updated to 5.14.6-3.
• Partclone was updated to 0.3.18.
• Package ezio was updated to 1.2.0.
• Language files de_DE, hu_HU, es_ES, fr_FR, ja_JP, pl_PL, sk_SK, tr_TR, were updated.
• Program ocs-live-netcfg was improved: wireless can be configured using nmtui, and boot parameter ocs_nic_type can be used to assign if wired or wireless when configuring network in ocs-live-netcfg.
• update-efi-nvram-boot-entry: improved to refer to saved nvram data (efi-nvram.dat). In addition, multiple boot entries can be processed, too. More info†
• Suppress the error message about “setterm -blank 0”.
• Add a cache mechanism to speed up the device scanning.
• Allow reserved image names to be used in TUI. The description about reserved image names is shown in TUI.

Bug Fixes

• The option “-j2” was missing in recovery-iso-zip mode. Thanks to Ek Han Heng for reporting this issue. More info†
• The “-z9p” was not shown in the save menu for beginner mode.
• Function get_not_busy_disks_or_parts: a bug was fixed, which failed to process dev with /dev/mapper, eg, /dev/mapper/ventoy. More info†
