Software Update: Caliber 5.0.1

Version 5.0 of Caliber has been released. This open source ebook manager is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Among other things, it can look up all relevant information and cover images, and convert ebooks to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. Furthermore, the program can convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds into e-book format. Books can also be purchased with Caliber at the well-known web stores. Version 5.0 has included a switch to Python 3, various improvements have been made to the e-book viewer and there is now also a dark mode for the e-book viewer and content server.

New features

  • E-book viewer: Add support for highlighting.
  • E-book viewer: Add support for right-to-left and vertical text.
  • Switch caliber to Python 3. This means that some no longer maintained third party plugins will not work. More information.
  • Dark mode support for the Content server and E-book viewer user interfaces.
  • Content server’s in-browser viewer now supports bookmarking. Bookmarks and highlights are auto-synced across devices.
  • Regular expression engine used for searching the book list and reading metadata from filenames has been made more powerful.

Bug fixes

  • Version 5.0.1 fixes a bug in 5.0.0 that broke connecting to devices on macOS
