The Japanese cooler manufacturer Scythe has released the Mugen 5 PCGH Edition. The processor cooler is equipped with two Kaze Flex 120 PWM fans, which run at a speed of 300 to 800rpm.

According to figures from Scythe, the noise production of the Mugen 5 PCGH Edition is 14.5dB(A). With the normal version that has one fan with a speed of up to 1200rpm, that is 24.9dB(A). The Kaze Flex fans should last 120,000 hours and are equipped with rubbers to prevent vibrations.

In all other respects, the PCGH Edition is similar to the regular Mugen 5, which Scythe introduced in December. The aluminum heatsink is equipped with twelve copper heatpipes and a copper baseplate. Due to the asymmetrical design, the baseplate is not exactly in the middle and several layers of the aluminum fins have been shortened to accommodate dram modules with high heat spreaders. The copper parts are nickel-plated to prevent corrosion.

The Mugen 5 PCGH is 154.5mm high. Including fans, the whole weighs 1020 grams. The cooler is compatible with all common Intel and AMD sockets, including AM4. At the time of writing, the processor cooler in the Pricewatch is priced at 51 euros. That is an additional cost of about 7 euros compared to the regular model with one fan.
