Samsung will introduce Bixby in all its smart home devices, including ovens and robot vacuum cleaners, from 2020 onwards. The company announced this, according to several South Korean media based on a press conference in Seoul.

The digital assistant, who debuted on the Galaxy S8 last year, will be available on models such as TVs, washing machines and refrigerators. , reports YonhapNews . The news agency mentions that in two years Samsung will want Bixby in all its devices for home, provided they have an internet connection. The intention is that they work together, allowing users to control different devices with a single command. All devices wake up when the user steps in and says “Hey Bixby, I’m home”, says Korea Times .
The next step for Bixby is version 2.0, which has to debut on the Galaxy Note 9, mentions Korea Herald . Version 2.0 should, among other things, offer faster response times. This version must also handle natural speech better and noise better.
Bixby is a further development of S Voice, the voice assistant for Samsung smartphones that can be found on devices since 2012. To develop Bixby, Samsung wants its AI team to grow to a thousand people, including through acquisitions. A year and a half ago, for example, Viv Labs took over a company of the founders of Siri, which has been in the hands of Apple for eight years.
