Samsung has presented its second smartphone with dual camera. The Galaxy J7+ has a primary 13-megapixel camera and a secondary 5-megapixel camera. That makes the Live Focus function possible that Samsung has also put in the Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung does not disclose much about the camera, except that it is a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 lens in front. The secondary 5-megapixel camera has an aperture of f/1.9. Further details about sensor and pixel size, angle of view and other details are missing. The dual camera makes it possible to blur the background in a photo.

The phone has an unknown Exynos-soc with eight processor cores that reach a maximum of 2.39GHz. Samsung adds 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage. The device has a battery with a capacity of 3000mAh. The device has a 5.5″ OLED screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The housing is largely made of metal.

On the software side, the J7+ runs Samsung’s own Android release with, among other things, support for Always On for reading the time and notifications without having to press a button to turn on the screen. There is also a function to run two apps side by side, a function that other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Asus and Alcatel already have.

The device comes out in Thailand for 12,900 baht, which is about 326 euros. It is not yet known when and whether the device will be released in the Benelux. Samsung presented the Galaxy Note 8 two weeks ago, the manufacturer’s first smartphone with a dual camera. It has two optically stabilized 13-megapixel sensors with different focal lengths, to enable ‘optical zooming’ in addition to blurring the background.
