Samsung has apparently decided at the last minute not to reveal the Exynos 2200-soc on Tuesday, as the company previously announced. This soc should be the first mobile soc with AMD RDNA2 GPU. The company denies that there are any performance issues.
The company now plans to unveil the soc along with new Samsung smartphones, Samsung told Business Korea. It is obvious that the company is referring to the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S22 phones, which would be announced on February 8. Samsung says there are no problems with the production and performance of the new soc.
Ice Universe about the Exynos 2200-soc with RDNA2 GPU
On Monday, well-known leaker Ice Universe on Twitter that Samsung would have trouble with the clock speed of the GPU. On Weibo, he added that the company initially aimed for a clock speed of 1.9GHz, but that the maximum clock speed would now be 1.29GHz. Samsung plans to increase this to 1.49GHz. In now-deleted tweets, Ice Universe is also said to have said that the Exynos 2200 soc in an S22 would perform worse than a Dimensity 9000 soc with a Mali GPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 soc and Apple’s A15 soc, notes Reddit- user Superyoshers9 on.
AMD and Samsung have been talking about an Exynos soc with an RDNA 2-based gpu for a year now. This soc should have been presented last year and will receive support for ray tracing and variable rate shading.
