Samsung will present its latest Gear S smartwatch next week at the IFA electronics fair in the German capital Berlin. A CEO of the company hints that the watch has more sensors on board than previous smartwatches to monitor the health of users.

Samsung’s mobile division chief DJ Koh tells US TV channel CNBC that wearables would be more popular if there were more ways to monitor your health. “The sensors on devices now don’t seem to be enough,” Koh said.

Samsung has announced an event for next Wednesday ahead of the IFA trade show. There, the South Korean company will show new products. According to Koh, there is a new smartwatch in the Gear S line in between. In recent years, the manufacturer has invariably presented its new smartwatch at the electronics fair in Berlin.

Apple foreman Tim Cook previously said he sees a future in which the smartwatch can better monitor the health of the user. Despite those statements from more than a year ago, the manufacturer has not yet released a smartwatch that is capable of this.

Samsung held an event a few hours ago where it presented the Galaxy Note 8. A product page of the unannounced fitness tracker Gear Fit 2 Pro also appeared online on Wednesday.
