The third version of the foldable smartphone Motorola razr is said to have larger screens on the inside and outside than its predecessors. This is reported by a well-known analyst. Last week photos were already out of the phone.

The screen on the inside would have a diagonal of 6.7″, compared to 6.2″ of the previous versions, reports screen analyst Ross Young. In recent years, Young has often shown that he has correct information on screens of unannounced smartphones. The information comes from screen suppliers. The folding screen comes from China Star Optoelectronics Technology, Young claims. That is affiliated with TCL. Like Motorola’s parent company Lenovo, China Star is a Chinese company.

Thus, the screen diagonal corresponds to that of the Samsung Z Flip 3, which also has a 6.7″ screen. The screen on the outside is between 2.7″ and 3″, while the previous versions have a 2.7″ screen. display on the outside.

Last week, photos of the third version of the razr emerged. The phone would be codenamed Maven. The Maven differs from its predecessor in several respects. For example, the fingerprint scanner is now in the Power button and the cameras are on the back at the bottom right, instead of in a central place. The soc in the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Earlier razr’s had midrange socs. There should also be a version with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ soc, but it is unknown if it will come.

Motorola is aiming for a release of the razr in the summer in China. As happened with the Edge 30 Pro, the device will not be released for the global market until later. That will probably be this fall. The previous razr’s appeared in 2019 and 2020. It had been known for some time that a third razr would come.
