Nvidia may be working on a new version of its GeForce RTX 2060 video card from 2019. This new variant would have 12GB of GDDR6 memory, but otherwise be identical to its predecessor.

Anonymous sources tell VideoCardz that Nvidia would like to introduce the new RTX 2060 variant by January 2022. The company is said to have told its board partners that they may be able to expect the new GPUs by the end of this year, depending on how quickly they can be produced.

Nvidia was set to release the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB due to persistent chip shortages, making new video cards hard to get and priced high. The deficits were expected to persist into the first half of 2022.

The updated GeForce RTX 2060 video card would again get a TU-106-300 GPU, with 1920 CUDA cores, 120 Tensor cores and 48 cores for ray tracing. This is supplemented by 12GB GDDR6 memory, where the original RTX 2060 had 6GB video memory. The clock speeds of the new variant are not yet known.
