The new Chromecast that Google is working on is a model with Google TV, a remote control and a resolution of up to 1920×1080 pixels. That reports Protocol. The new Chromecast also works on the basis of Android 12, reports Android Police.

Due to the specs mentioned, it seems that it is a cheap model Chromecast, Protocol writes. The site lists a price of under $40. The current variant has a price of around 70 euros. As with the existing Chromecast with Google TV, a remote control is included to operate the interface.

That interface is Google TV based on Android 12, reports Android Police. That differs sharply from the current Chromecast with Google TV, which is based on Android 10 and came out a little over a year ago.

The new Chromecast would have an Amlogic S805X2 soc with four ARM Cortex A53 cores, an ARM Mali G31 GPU and support for AV1. The dongle would have a maximum of 2GB of RAM. An earlier rumor already mentioned that the Chromecast should be released this year.
