Apple may release an iPad with a 10.86 “OLED screen next year. This is probably a fifth-generation iPad Air. Apple would also provide several other iPad models with an OLED panel in 2023.

South Korean tech website The Elec writes that Apple will release an iPad with a 10.86″ OLED screen from Samsung Display next year, but does not mention what iPad model that is. There were earlier rumors that Apple will release an iPad next year. Air with an OLED panel, based among others on analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s reports, is believed to be the same model.

In 2023, Apple would in any case release two new iPad models with an OLED panel. It would be iPads with a screen diagonal of 11″ and 12.9″. The tech giant currently offers iPad Pro tablets with those screen sizes. It’s not clear, though, whether the company will be providing OLED panels for Pro models in 2023, as the company recently switched to mini LED displays for its iPad Pro 12.9″. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who regularly provides accurate information about unannounced Apple sales. shares products, said this week that the company is considering making iPads with larger screens.

The Elec writes that the iPads with an OLED screen that will be released in 2023 will have a ‘flexible’ LTPO OLED panel. With such a flexible panel, manufacturers can make smaller screen edges, among other things. Apple has been using flexible OLED panels for its smartphones since the iPhone X. With the ltpo screen, the upcoming iPad models would also receive a refresh rate of 120Hz. That refresh rate is currently reserved for Apple’s iPad Pro series.

There have been rumors about OLED iPads for some time now. A report from another South Korean news site, ETNews, recently stated that Apple would provide more iPads with an OLED screen from 2022. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also previously stated that Apple would bring an iPad Air with an OLED panel to the market next year, MacRumors writes. Apple has not yet confirmed anything.
