Rumor: Apple has started producing iPhone X again

Apple has restarted production of the iPhone X, claims business newspaper The Wall Street Journal. The manufacturer had stopped doing so after the release of the iPhone XS and XS Max, but further production of the X is needed to make the OLED screens.

Apple has agreed with Samsung to purchase a minimum number of OLED screens for smartphones and that will not work with only the production for the XS and XS Max, The Wall Street Journal writes on the basis of anonymous sources. It has often happened that Apple resumes production of an old model, such as with the iPhone 4 for sale in India. This has never happened so soon after the production stop.

It is unknown where Apple would like to sell the iPhone X again. Apple has not confirmed the information and has not responded to the article. WSJ further claims that Apple is discounting carriers in Japan in order to offer the iPhone XR at lower prices. That could happen from next week.

The article is a new one in a series that shows that sales of new iPhones are not going as well as Apple had hoped. Earlier, four suppliers that make parts for iPhones lowered their revenue forecast within a short period of time.

It will be difficult to control how the demand for iPhones will develop, because Apple has decided to keep the figures on the number of copies delivered secret from now on. From now on, Apple will only show sales per product category.
