RedMagic 5G gaming smartphone with 144Hz screen and Snapdragon 865 appears

Nubia has announced the Redmagic 5G in its home country of China, a new version in its line of gaming smartphones. Among other things, the device has a screen with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz.

The 144Hz screen is an AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.65″. This is also the highest refresh rate supported by the smartphone’s processor, the Snapdragon 865 with the Adreno 650 GPU. The smartphone also supports 5G connectivity, via the Qualcomm X55 modem.

The device has three cameras on the back. The main camera is a 64-megapixel model with a Sony IMX686 sensor. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel camera for a Bokeh effect. The front camera is a 12-megapixel model.

Nubia claims that the active cooling with fan performs better than with previous devices and, among other things, the airflow is optimized. In addition, the claim that the responsiveness of the trigger buttons has been improved.

There is also 12GB lpddr5 and up to 256GB ufs 3.0 storage. The battery capacity is 4500mAh and there is support for fast charging with 55W. From Thursday, March 12, the RedMagic 5G will be available in China for a starting price of 3799 Yuan for the version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That is converted and with VAT 583 euros. The worldwide release should follow in April, but the actual euro prices are not yet known.
