Realme is working on wireless magnetic charger for upcoming phone

Realme is working on a wireless magnetic charger for the upcoming Realme Flash smartphone. The charger is similar to Apple’s MagSafe, but comes with a built-in fan to prevent overheating. That has been confirmed by GSM Arena.

The MagDart is so far the first wireless and magnetic charger announced for an Android phone. The charger works much the same as Apple’s MagSafe, says GSM Arena . The charger clamps onto the back of the phone with magnets and then charges the phone wirelessly. Unlike the MagSafe, this charger is equipped with a fan to ensure that the charger does not overheat.

GSM Arena says Realme has not yet said how fast the charger will charge. The website says it has received confirmation that the charger will charge at more than 15W, so faster than Apple’s MagSafe charger that charges at a maximum of 15W. In addition, the charger with a USB-C connection is available if wireless charging is not an option.

The charger is initially made for the upcoming Realme Flash smartphone from the Chinese brand. That phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone has a rounded screen with a pinhole camera at the top left. The Realme Flash runs on Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0.

Rumors about the charger leaked a few weeks ago via a listing at the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Much more than a name was unknown at the time. Last week it was revealed based on a leak that Realme is working on two different types of wireless chargers: a round charger for a desk and the larger magnetic one. GSM Arena now adds details and confirmation from Realme.

It is not yet known when the charger will be on the market, for what price and whether it can also be used with other Android phones with wireless charging.
