Porsche previously introduced its electrically powered Taycan Turbo, Turbo S and 4S. These sports cars will eventually be joined by a cheaper model that lacks four-wheel drive.

Michael Steiner, board member of the German carmaker responsible for R&D, said in a telephone interview with British Car Magazine that entry-level models of the Taycan are coming. He mentions, among other things, a rear-wheel drive model with a smaller battery. These are two elements that contribute to the lower price compared to the current Taycan models. With this rear-wheel drive model, Steiner is thinking of an introduction in countries with weather conditions that do not require four-wheel drive, where he specifically mentions China. The car will probably be the first to arrive there. It is still unknown where and when the new version will be released, and Steiner did not want to name an expected price yet.

In any case, a smaller battery means a battery capacity that is lower than that of the Taycan 4S. This model has a 79.2 kWh battery and the base model costs about 109,000 euros. Porsche previously introduced the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. These are more expensive models with batteries with a 93.4 kWh capacity. The suggested retail prices of these two models are 157,100 and 191,000 euros. The German manufacturer is also working on a crossover: the Taycan Cross Turismo. This is slightly higher on its wheels compared to the existing Taycan models.
