Images have surfaced online of what would become the design of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The images were put online by EVLeaks, which in recent years was the first to publish illustrations of many smartphones.

EVLeaks put one of the photos in a tweet and another above an old article on Venturebeat. The phones in the images appear to have roughly the same design as the current Galaxy S6 series, although the Edge version is visibly larger than the flat-screen variant. The USB port in the images appears to be of the micro-USB type, instead of the USB-C port that can be found on several new smartphones. The back is not shown in the images, only the front and some sides. However, it would no longer have a camera module that sticks out.

They are the first marketing renders that have appeared online of the Samsung smartphones. Earlier, EvLeaks claimed that Samsung will make the S7 waterproof, as is the case with the S5. In addition, the manufacturer would again put an SD card slot in the device. Samsung will provide the S7 with a camera with a maximum resolution of twelve megapixels. It will probably be a Britecell sensor. The camera has an f/1.7 lens. The S6 has an f/1.9 lens.

According to that information, the S7 has a 5.1″ screen with 2560×1440 pixels, just like the current S6. The S7 Edge has a slightly larger screen of 5.5″, with the same resolution. Samsung would make an ‘always on’ function for the S7, where the screen can always show information. Lumia phones and before that Symbian models from Nokia have had that for years.

The S7s run on an Exynos 8 Octa-soc or a Snapdragon 820. It is unknown which soc the manufacturer will use in the Benelux. Samsung would like to present the S7 series for Mobile World Congress in February and release it in March. Samsung itself hinted at a release in March during the presentation of the quarterly figures.
