Philips shows three sensors for its Hue platform for smart homes

Philips has shown three sensors that are compatible with the Hue lighting platform at CES. It concerns a motion detector, a thermometer with an integrated moisture meter and a sensor that can detect whether a door or window is opened.

The Hue sensors were spotted on the CES show floor by the German website Ifun.de. The sensors can send a signal to the Hue bridge that is used as a base station for controlling Philips Hue lamps. For example, a motion sensor could send a signal to the bridge via the Zigbee protocol that someone is entering the house and then automatically switch on the light.

Philips could not yet provide details about the new sensors. It is also still unclear when these will appear on the market. Currently, the Hue lamps can already be controlled via various smartphone apps, while a platform such as IFTTT also offers options for interacting with Hue lighting.
