OnePlus has announced its OnePlus 12 smartphone in China. The phone has a larger battery than its predecessor at 5400mAh. There will also be a variant with 24GB of RAM. OnePlus will announce details about the European release next week.
The OnePlus 12 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the latest high-end SoC from the American processor designer. It includes at least 12GB Lpddr5x memory. There will also be variants with 16GB and 24GB. The UFS 4.0 storage ranges from 256GB to 1TB.
The phone has a 6.82″ OLED screen of 3168×1440 pixels. That is an aspect ratio of 19.8:9. According to OnePlus, the screen reaches 1600cd/m² in ‘high-brightness’ mode, but can peak up to 4500cd/m² The refresh rate is 1-120Hz.
The battery has a capacity of 5400mAh and can charge with a maximum of 100W. There is also wireless charging again, which was missing on the OnePlus 11 and Open. Wireless charging is possible with a maximum of 50W. OnePlus phones have been able to charge quickly for years, but the capacity is now higher than previous generations; the 10 Pro and 11 both have 5000mAh batteries.
The primary camera is a 50-megapixel sensor from the Sony Lytia series. The sensors differ from current models because the transistors and photodiodes have been separated from each other for the first time in the pixel layer. This makes more surface area available for the photodiodes, meaning that a pixel with the same surface area can capture more light. In the new design, the transistors are located behind the diodes. It is a 1/1.4″ sensor with an area of 62 square millimeters.
Then there is a 1/2″ sensor with a 64-megapixel sensor with 3x zoom, just like in the OnePlus Open. That is a 30 square millimeter sensor with an f/2.6 lens in front. The third camera has a 48 megapixel sensor of approximately 30 square millimeters with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
The phone measures 16.4 x 7.6 centimeters and is 9.2 millimeters thick and weighs 220 grams. The cheapest variant will be released next week for 4299 yuan, currently equivalent to approximately 560 euros. That is approximately the same price as the OnePlus 11.
