The Eindhoven chip company NXP will no longer supply part of its supply to Huawei as a result of the trade ban that the US has imposed against the Chinese manufacturer. It is not clear which products NXP no longer supplies.

NXP is discontinuing the supply of “products that fall under US sanctions against Huawei”, RTL Z writes based on statements by the NXP spokesperson. Part of its product range is not subject to the sanctions and NXP will continue to supply that. The spokesperson does not want to say which products the company no longer provides to the Chinese tech company.

NXP makes chips for cars, chips for smart cards and nfc chips. Last week, US President Trump issued an executive order banning US tech companies from doing business with Huawei over the sale or supply of information or communications technology that could endanger US national security.

Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom and Xilinx, among others, would adhere to the ban. NXP is headquartered in Eindhoven, but the company has offices all over the world, including the US. For example, the company makes chips in fabs in Arizona and Texas.
