Nvidia will stop releasing Game Ready drivers for its Kepler GPUs on August 31, 2021. This eliminates support for the GeForce GTX 600 and GTX 700 series. Nvidia will continue to release critical security updates for the GPUs until September 2024.
The GPU maker announced the eol status of its Kepler architecture on its website, VideoCardz noted. On August 31, 2021, Nvidia will release the final Game Ready driver in the R470 branch. At the same time, the company will also stop releasing drivers for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Support for Kepler GPUs and these operating systems will be discontinued in the next R495 driver branch, due for release on October 4.
With the decision, Nvidia will only come with drivers for Maxwell GPUs and later in the future. The GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti will still receive new drivers after August 31; those were the first video cards with Maxwell GPUs. All other GTX 600 and GTX 700 video cards will no longer receive new drivers from that date.
“Desktop GPUs based on Kepler were first introduced in March 2012. Since then, gaming technology has changed dramatically with technologies such as DirectX 12 Ultimate and DLSS,” Nvidia writes. “Going forward, NVIDIA’s software team will focus on hardware that supports newer technologies.”
