Nubia releases 5g smartphone with 144Hz OLED screen in China for 313 euros

Nubia has announced the Play 5G in China. The smartphone will receive a Snapdragon 765G-soc with a built-in 5G modem, a 144Hz OLED screen of 6.65″ and 6GB ram. It costs about 313 euros. Whether the device comes to Europe is not yet known.

The Nubia Play 5G shares some features with the RedMagic 5G smartphone from the same manufacturer. That device with Snapdragon 865-soc has been on sale in Europe since Tuesday for 579 euros. Like the top model, the Nubia Play has a 144Hz OLED screen of 6.65″ with an FHD+ resolution.

The Nubia Play contains a slower soc: the Snapdragon 765G. This is the first soc with an integrated 5g modem that supports both low and high frequencies. The cheapest version has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage. There are more expensive versions with more RAM and more storage. The battery has a capacity of 5100mAh and fast charging is 30W.

There are four cameras on the back. The primary camera uses a Sony IMX582 sensor with 48-megapixel resolution. There is also an ultra wide-angle lens with an 8-megapixel sensor and a macro camera with a 2-megapixel sensor. Behind the fourth lens is a 2-megapixel sensor for depth recognition. The case has capacitive shoulder buttons, just like the RedMagic 5G gaming phone.

Nubia bought the base model in China for 2400 yuan. Converted that is about 313 euros. Whether and when the device will come to Europe and what the price would be, is not known. The RedMagic 5G came out in Europe about a month after its release in China, but Nubia doesn’t sell all of its smartphones outside of China.
