Hasbro and Niantic are teaming up on a Transformers AR game to be released worldwide later this year. In the game, players can ‘team up’ with Autobots such as Bumblebee. There are not many details about the game yet.

Niantic writes on her blog to work on Transformers: Heavy Metal with Hasbro, TOMY and developer Very Very Spaceship. According to Niantic, bringing Transformers to the AR world is a no-brainer. In addition, the company says the game will run on the Niantic Lightship platform and that there will be “soft launches in select countries soon.” On the game’s site, Niantic writes about a beta in some countries.

The Lightship engine is used for Pokémon GO and Harry Potter Wizards Unite, among others. In the concept images below that TechCrunch received, the game resembles previous Niantic games. The news site also writes that players will join the ‘Guardian Network’, a group of people who team up with Autobots to fight the Decepticons. Niantic also says it is now working on ten AR titles.
