Netflix studios are jointly working on more than ten of their own games. A total of ninety games are in development, including with external parties, with the aim of releasing those titles on the streaming service.

In a interview with Axio says head of gaming Mike Verdu that Netflix is heavily committed to offering games, including with the acquisition and setting up of its own game studios. So far, the streaming service has released roughly eighty games, all playable on smartphones. There are at least that many more titles in development.

Since the end of 2021, Netflix has also offered games through the service in addition to films and series. It has not become clear since then to what extent Netflix subscribers actually use the games. According to some sources, less than one percent of all subscribers do anything with games. Verdu does not provide a definitive answer, but does say: “We are satisfied with the attention that games have received so far. Subscribers are discovering and playing games. And that number is growing.”

The streaming service released several Grand Theft Auto games this week and will soon release the renowned roguelike Hades.
