From January 1, 2024, logging in to My Allowances is only possible via the DigiD app or with SMS verification. Requiring multi-factor authentication should provide an additional layer of security. From next year, logging in with just a username and password will no longer be possible.

Via My Allowances, citizens can apply for, change and cancel various allowances, such as healthcare allowance, housing allowance and childcare allowance. The Tax Authorities explain on their website how users can switch to the DigiD app or activate SMS verification. Multi-factor authentication also became mandatory for logging in to My Government at the beginning of this year. Since September 2022, this also applies to logging in to the Tax Authorities.
