Microsoft Teams now has 145 million users. The company announced this in the context of the publication of its quarterly figures. This shows that cloud services and the sale of Xbox hardware have again led to a significant increase in profit and sales.

The number of 145 million at Microsoft Teams was among others by Jeff Teper underlined, a vice president of the division responsible for Microsoft 365. This number was 115 million users in October last year, an increase of 26 percent from that number. Teams was still at 32 million daily users in mid-March last year, at the start of the corona pandemic, and at the end of April 2020, that number was already 75 million.

In terms of gaming, Microsoft did good business, just like in the previous quarter. Xbox hardware sales grew 232 percent in the quarter. However, Microsoft does not mention a concrete turnover figure. This sharp increase from the same quarter a year ago is not surprising, as there were no new consoles then; Microsoft says the new consoles, namely the Xbox Series X and S, are responsible for this current increase. Revenue from Xbox services and content, which includes the Xbox Game Pass, for example, increased by 34 percent; ZeniMax’s income is now also included in this.

The total revenue of all cloud services increased by 14 percent, which according to Microsoft is mainly explained by the growth of Office 365 for businesses. The turnover from this increased by 22 percent. Revenue from the Intelligent Cloud business grew 23 percent to $15.1 billion, partly due to a 50 percent increase in sales at the Azure business. The number of Microsoft 365 customers increased by 27 percent to 50.2 million.

In total, Microsoft had revenues of $41.7 billion, an increase of 19 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. Profit came in at $15.5 billion, an increase of 44 percent.
