Microsoft has released a new Outlook Lite app for Android in a limited number of countries. The app is a lot less difficult to run and should therefore be better suited for less powerful smartphones.

In a blog, Microsoft shares the release of the Outlook Lite app for Android in Brazil, Turkey and India, among others. The Benelux is not in the list of countries where the app can be downloaded via the Play Store, but Microsoft writes that it is the intention that the Lite variant will also come to other countries in the future.

According to Microsoft, the Outlook Lite requires a lot less of a phone. For example, the app must also be able to run on smartphones with 1GB of RAM and the app only takes up 5MB of storage space. In addition, the Outlook Lite app should also work with slower internet connections, for example 2G and 3G.

Outlook Lite supports Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, MSN, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Exchange Online accounts. This means that the app does not work for all accounts that you can use with the regular Outlook app. When Outlook is used with, for example, Gmail, the Lite version cannot be used.
