MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9000+. It is a variant of the previously published Dimensity 9000 with a higher clocked cpu and gpu, so that the soc would offer slightly better performance.

It’s alright according to MediaTek to five percent better performance in the CPU area, while the GPU would perform ten percent better. For the CPU cores, this involves an increase in the clock speed of the single Cortex X2 core in the soc, which goes from 3.05GHz to 3.2GHz. The A710 cores go from 2.5GHz in the Dimensity 9000 to 2.85GHz in the + variant of the soc. Nothing changes about the more economical A510 cores.

It is unknown what the clock speed of the ARM Mali G710MC10 GPU will be. MediaTek does not disclose anything about this, except that it should lead to better performance. In addition to the CPU and GPU upgrades, the + version will receive support for HDR 10+ Adaptive, the processor designer says.

MediaTek still has the Dimensity 9000+ made at TSMC at 4nm, just like the Dimensity 9000 that came out late last year. Competitor Qualcomm also came out with a + version of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 last month. It is the first time that MediaTek has done this. When the + version will appear in phones is unknown. This usually happens within a few weeks to months after the announcement.
