Logging in to Google services with Android 2.3.7 or older will soon no longer be possible

Starting September 27, Android devices running version 2.3.7 or older will no longer be able to sign in to Google services such as Gmail, YouTube or Maps. It will no longer be possible to create accounts. Google is introducing this measure for security reasons.

If users with Android version 2.3.7 try to log in or create a new account after September 27 of this year, an error message will be displayed according to Google. It is still possible for these devices to log in to a Google account via the web browser and to use some services. It is not clear which services these are.

Google recommends that users update their Android devices to a more recent version of the operating system. The oldest version with which people can log in from September 27, or create new accounts with Google services, will then be Android 3.0.
