LG asks $700 in America for a unique 16:18 DualUp monitor

LG has started selling its DualUp 16:18 monitor in the US. There, the South Korean electronics giant asks $699.99 for the unique monitor. A release date and price for European countries is still unknown.

The price of $699.99 Although it cannot be converted one-on-one to an expected euro price, it does give an indication of what the monitor will cost approximately; for example, doubling the US price would be too extreme. 9to5Toys writes that the monitor is for sale at B&H, Amazon and LG itself. Only the latter party actually has the monitor in stock.

The DualUp has a resolution of 2560 by 2880 pixels. This makes it essentially a stack of two 1440p monitors on top of each other. The screen diagonal is 27.6″, but this can also be seen as two 21.5″ monitors on top of each other. A similar product is the Eizo FlexScan EV2730Q, a square monitor with a resolution of 1920 by 1920 pixels.

The DualUp monitor contains an IPS panel that can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. According to LG, the screen achieves a brightness of up to 300cd/m², a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a gray-to-gray response time of 5ms.

The monitor has two HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort input. In addition, there is a USB-C port that can supply 96W of power, which could quickly charge devices such as laptops and telephones. The device does not have a standard monitor base, but comes with a C-shaped clamp that has to go around the desk. LG focuses on business use with its DualUp Monitor.
