Kingston has added a micro SD card to its line of Class 10 UHS-I specification cards. The memory card has a storage capacity of 256GB and offers write speeds of at least 10MB/s and read speeds of 45MB/s.

According to Kingston, the micro-SD card is suitable for use with still cameras and for filming at 1080p resolution. However, due to the limited write speed of 10MB/s, it cannot be used according to the specifications for recording at higher resolutions or taking photos while filming. In practice, the required write speed with many 4k cameras is less than 10MB/s, so this should not cause any problems.

Kingston includes a lifetime warranty with the card and promises that it will continue to work after half an hour under one meter of water and in temperatures between -25 and 80 degrees Celsius. Web shops indicate that they will have the card in stock from this week. It can now be found in the Pricewatch for a price of about 130 euros.

There are already micro-SD cards with a capacity of 256GB from other manufacturers. Samsung announced a card in May, which has been available in Pricewatch since July. Sandisk has also had such a card in the Pricewatch for a week. However, both micro-SD cards offer faster read and write speeds than Kingston’s new card.
