iPad is hard to come by: new iPad 2021 on the way?

Spread the love

Next week is the day: the biggest Apple event of the year will take place. With undoubtedly the iPhone 13, the AirPods 3 and … a new iPad 2021? It’s starting to look more and more like it!

In all the rumors about the Apple event, the arrival of a new iPad is an uncertain factor. It could be announced next week, but later this year is also an option. But now there is an indication that it will really be next week. Namely the very limited availability of the current iPad.

iPad 2021 release coming soon

Apple journalist Mark Gurman has noticed that the current entry-level iPad is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain from Apple. In the US, some models are completely sold out. Or they have a delivery time of weeks. In Europe it is a little less extreme, but it is heading in the same direction. As if the remaining stock is used up and no longer replenished.

According to Gurman, Apple employees have been told not to speculate with customers about what’s going on. Add to that the fact that the last two entry-level iPads were both unveiled in September, and you know that an iPad announcement next week is highly plausible.

What’s new?

The iPad 2021 will be the new entry-level iPad and will not be drastically different from its predecessor. It is, however, slightly thinner and lighter in weight, so that it is easier to carry. Apple hopes with this – and with the friendly price of course – to appeal to school and college students. The iPad will get a better processor, but to keep the price acceptable, it won’t be the latest.

Apple is also working on a new iPad mini, but we don’t expect it until later this year. The current model is also still sufficiently in stock. The iPad mini hasn’t been updated since 2019, and Apple is now tackling it firmly. If the rumors are correct, we will soon get an iPad mini that is a small version of the iPad Air, with a front that is all screen and without a home button.

Apple event September 14

The Apple event will take place on Tuesday, September 14. We expect the new iPhone 13 and a number of other new Apple products.
