IKEA has initiated a recall for the dark gray version of the Åskstorm 40W USB charger. This has an ‘increased risk’ of electric shocks that may result in burns. Customers will receive their money back, even if they no longer have a receipt.

If the charger is used for a long time and the cable is coiled, the charger power cable may be damaged. If that cable gets damaged, there is according to IKEA an increased risk of electric shock. The company says it has received reports of damaged power cables; therefore, it initiates the recall. Customers are urged to stop using the charger.

The charger has been sold since April 2020. IKEA says it only concerns the dark gray 40W version. The company also supplies other Åskstorm chargers; they are not covered by this recall. The charger has item number 50461193 and model number ICPSW5-40-1. The receipt is not required and there is no deadline for the recall.
