Huawei will come next week with the P50 Pocket, a new, foldable smartphone. Huawei’s foldable models have fallen into the Mate series so far. Photos show a gold version of the phone.

Huawei says it will announce the P50 Pocket on December 23 in China. It seems to be the phone that previously circulated in the rumor circuit as Mate V. It is a folding phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip devices or the Motorola razr, not a device that unfolds into a tablet like the current Mate X phones. The most recent of these is the Mate X2, a device that, unlike its predecessor, has the screen on the inside.

According to SeekDevice, the device has a foldable heatpipe in the hinge to dissipate heat. The phone would mainly focus on fashion. The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or HiSilicon Kirin 9000. Harper’s Bazaar China has prematurely released images of the phone. They show a gold device with a gold finish and a small round screen on the front.

The chance seems small that the device will be released on a large scale in Europe. Due to the US government’s ban on US companies from trading with Huawei, phones from the manufacturer cannot use Google apps. Since then, few models have been released in the Benelux.
