HP retains a free Instant Ink subscription for already subscribed customers

HP will keep the free version of the Instant Ink subscription for existing subscribers. In October, the company decided that this subscription formula would become a paying variant for everyone from 9 December. The company will now come back to that.

In early October, it was announced that HP would stop worldwide with the free version of the Instant Ink subscription from December 9. From that date, all users of this free service were automatically transferred to the paying subscription of fifteen pages for one euro per month. From then on, it was no longer possible for new users to opt for the free version of the Instant Ink service.

On Friday, HP decided to continue offering the free service for already subscribed customers. The company indicates that it has listened to the responses received. “We understand that printing at home is essential in today’s world,” spokesman Claire Boom said in a statement. “After receiving feedback, we reentered the free plan for eligible customers who subscribed to the free plan at the time of notification.”

With the free version of the Instant Ink subscription, each customer with an HP Instant Ink compatible printer could print up to 15 pages per month at no charge. Since December 9, the free subscription formula has been merged into a paid version where new users can print fifteen pages for one euro per month, including the replacement of their almost empty ink cartridge. From then on, users could also opt for new subscription formulas where you can print 500 pages for 18.99 euros per month or 1500 pages for 49.99 euros per month.

HP is committed to ease of use with the Instant Ink subscription. When the ink cartridge is low, the compatible HP printer sends a signal over the Internet to HP to send a new cartridge so that you do not run out of ink.
