Juho Sarvikas, who works at HMD as Chief Product Officer, made via a message on Twitter known that Nokia 8 users will be able to unlock the bootloader. HMD, which may use the Nokia brand name for smartphones, says it’s primarily an option for developers, but unlocking the bootloader makes installing custom ROMs easier, making it interesting for experienced Android users.
Nokia 8 owners can get instructions to unlock the bootloader through a dedicated website. To do this, they must agree to a number of conditions. For example, HMD warns that the manufacturer’s warranty will be lost if the smartphone is unlocked, and there is no way to undo the process. In addition, a factory reset is performed.
