Hideo Kojima announces his next game, OD, at The Game Awards 2023. The game is being developed under Xbox Game Studios and Get Out and Nope director Jordan Peele is involved in the project.

In a blog post Kojima calls the game ‘a new form of media’, a wording he also used in the run-up to Death Stranding. “OD explores the concept of testing your fear limits and what it means to have an overdose of fear, while blurring the lines between gaming and film.” The game is made in Unreal Engine and stars Sophia Lillis and Hunter Shafer, known for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Euphoria, respectively.

Thriller director and sketch maker Jordan Peele is also involved in the project, although it is not clear in what way. The American says he is honored to be working with the Japanese video game maker. OD, short for overdose, is in development under Xbox Game Studios and will only be released for Microsoft’s consoles and possibly PC.
