Hewlett Packard Enterprise plans to acquire Juniper Networks. HPE would be willing to pay around $13 billion for the network equipment maker, The Wall Street Journal writes based on its own sources. Juniper could help HP more in its plans for an AI platform.

According to The Wall Street Journal the two companies want to announce a deal this week. HPE, the business arm of the computer manufacturer, is said to be in ‘advanced discussions’ with Juniper. The company has 13 billion dollars, or approximately 11.9 billion euros, left for Juniper. Neither company wants to respond to the newspaper.

HPE would like to use Juniper’s network equipment to invest more in artificial intelligence. HPE has been setting up its own networks of supercomputers for some time. HPE wants to train and manage AI systems. HPE already has the Aruba Edge Services Platform, a network infrastructure with AI elements. Juniper has Juniper Mist, a proprietary AI platform. It is not known whether the companies want to merge the two platforms and how this should be done.
