Manufacturers announced many new laptops with Windows 10 at the IFA fair in Berlin, but Chromebooks also appeared. For example, Haier released its first Chromebook and Acer introduced a convertible.
The HR 116R and HR 116E Chromebooks are Haier’s first Chromebooks. The specs are pretty much the same; they have a Rockship 3288 quadcore running at 1.8GHz, 2GB ram and 16GB flash memory for storage. They also have a micro-SD card slot, and support for Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band WiFi. The 11.6″ screen shows an ‘HD resolution’, probably 1366×768 pixels. The laptops will cost 199.90 euros when they come on the market in October.
The Acer R 11 should distinguish itself with its folding touchscreen and this model also has a 2×2 WiFi-ac network card. The R 11 also has an undisclosed Intel Celeron processor and a USB 3.0 port is available. The thickness is 19.2 mm and the weight is 1.25 kilos, making this Chromebook 9 mm thinner than Haier’s, but also 10 grams heavier. The laptop will be on the market in November for 299 euros.
Lenovo’s S100 is a budget Chromebook that features an Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core, up to 4GB of RAM, and up to 32GB of emmc storage. This model is 19.9 mm thick and weighs 1.2 kg. Lenovo seems to have gone for a sturdy design, including for use in schools. The model will be launched in October, initially only in the US for $179. Converted and with VAT, that is 195 euros.
