Google lets YouTube Music users import their Google Play music

Spread the love

Google comes with a feature for YouTube Music users to easily transfer their songs, library and playlists from Google Play Music. The latter service will disappear and YouTube Music is the alternative.

Users can press a transfer button in the YouTube Music Android or iOS app or via the service’s website, and uploads, purchases, added songs, albums, playlists, preferences and recommendations will be transferred from Google Play Music. This happens in the background and YouTube Music can be used normally during the process. Google says the recommendations will appear directly on YouTube Music’s home screen and will notify users via notifications and email when the transfer is complete.

With this new feature, which is currently being released gradually, Google is trying to make it easier and more attractive for users to switch to YouTube Music. At the moment it is still possible to use both programs, but that will change later this year. Then Google Play Music will be phased out permanently. In Android 10, YouTube Music has already replaced Google Play Music as the default bundled music player.
