Links and attachments in Gmail will now open in split-screen mode on tablets and foldable smartphones. When a website or file is opened, a new window opens that no longer takes up the entire screen, but only half of it.

When you open a link or attachment, this content will appear on the right side of the screen. The left side opens the email in question, while the inbox sidebar disappears. Users can adjust the width of each half by dragging the bar between windows.

Google reports that other developers have also made changes to optimize productivity apps for Android tablets and foldables. For example, Zoom can now be used in tabletop mode on foldable smartphones, Adobe Acrobat Reader has been given a new layout for larger Android devices and Evernote supports a stylus to add handwritten notes.
