GITEX: AMD wants to guide AI technically and ethically.

The world is constantly changing. This is clearly visible at the GITEX fair that is being held this week in Dubai. The event is the most important tech show in this region. Many manufacturers are present here, this also applies to AMD.

The continuous change is challenging for many companies and organizations and AMD helps them to respond to this. One of the important trends is the rise of AI. Many of these workloads are run on servers based on this brand’s Epyc processors.

Zaid Ghattas (Sr. Manager Commercial Sales UAE) jumps straight into this topic. “We see the trend emerging not only in the demand for AI in the cloud and in the data center among our customers, but also in the personal environment on the desktop and laptop. That is why we are also focusing on Ryzen AI, which accelerates these types of applications on the personal computer.”

That’s not the only thing that matters. “We not only supply powerful processors, but also the matching architecture. An architecture that is well thought out and simple. Remember that an Epyc processor is fast enough to replace four servers. For example, you can replace a rack with twenty servers with just four servers. Easier to maintain and combined with the lower power consumption, the total costs are much lower.”

Will everything go to the cloud? “Here in the Middle East there is strong regulation and a lot of data has to be kept in its own data center. In Europe too, you see a trend that more and more thought is being given to where AI workloads can best be executed. Own servers in your own data center, the cloud or a combination thereof. Most CIOs and policymakers often have not yet decided what the best combination is.”
