Gigabyte introduces new versions of its Brix Extreme. These new mini PCs include Intel Alder Lake laptop processors and HDMI 2.1. The new Brix Extreme systems will be released in the second quarter.
Gigabyte provides the Brix Extreme variants of an Alder Lake CPU with up to 4 P-cores and 8 E-cores, for a total of 12 cores and 16 threads. The company does not clarify which model this concerns. Presumably it concerns Alder Lake-P processors. The system also has an integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU with 96 execution units and supports DDR4-sodimm memory with speeds of up to 3200MT/s.
On the front of the system are three USB-A ports, a USB-C connection, a 3.5mm jack and the power button. On the back are two more USB-A connections, a USB-C connection that also functions as DisplayPort, a mini-DisplayPort connector and an Ethernet connection. The new Brix Extreme also has two HDMI connections. Gigabyte writes that the mini PC supports HDMI 2.1, but it is not clear whether this applies to both HDMI connections. The Brix Extreme also supports Wi-Fi 6E.
Gigabyte does not specifically say what storage options the base model of the Brix Extreme supports. Assuming previous models, those systems will presumably have an M.2-2280 lock. Gigabyte does write that there will be a model with a slightly higher housing, so that users can also install a 2.5 “ssd. There will also be an upgrade kit that includes an extra Ethernet port, an RS232 connection and another M.2. 2280 lock added.
Gigabyte will release the new Brix Extreme variants in the second quarter, but the company does not share a more concrete release date, nor does it list recommended prices.
