German company Zepsch makes minicomputer with 0.95″ OLED screen
The German company Zepsch has made an Arduino-compatible minicomputer with an OLED screen and put a crowdfunding campaign live on Kickstarter. If enough people buy the PocketScreen, Zepsch will also add a WiFi chip.
The PocketScreen’s screen measures 2×1.34cm, has a diagonal of 0.95″ and a resolution of 96×64 pixels, the page shows. With the bezel included, it measures 2.5×2.1cm, about the size of a fifty coin. The pcb is the same size, so they can sit behind each other.Users can add a battery themselves and put the whole thing in a housing, but Zepsch supplies them without it as standard.
On that board is a Microchip ATSAMD21G18A, with Cortex M0 processor at 48MHz. Loading files on the device is done with a micro SD card. There is also a micro USB connection for power supply. When the campaign comes to $20,000, Zepsch will add an ESP8266EX Wi-Fi chip from Espressif.
Delivery could take place in three months. That’s possible because Zepsch recently released the PocketStar, a slightly larger device that doubles as a retro game emulator. The campaign started on Tuesday and is now over half of the required amount.
