Despite a number of cancellations from large companies, Game Developer Conference will continue for the time being. That’s what the organization says. On Thursday, Microsoft, Unity and Epic Games said they wouldn’t be coming.

The organization does not see enough reason for the cancellation of the game event, which is due to start in San Francisco in 2.5 weeks, The Verge writes. It is unknown how many parties will come, now that there are many cancellations. Earlier, Sony, EA, Kojima and Facebook canceled.

Microsoft is holding its own digital event called Gamestack, the company writes. Creator of Fortnite and the Unreal engine Epic Games mentions canceling GDC is a tough decision, and Unity says the same.

The cancellations are due to concerns about the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the associated illness Covid-19 that employees and visitors may contract if the virus spreads at a major event. Earlier, telecom fair Mobile World Congress was canceled for the same reason. There are also several cancellations for PAX East, but that event is still going on.
