Gameplay footage of Elden Ring maker Armored Core VI appears

FromSoftware has released the first gameplay footage of Armored Core VI. It is the first game in the series since 2013 and the first FromSoftware game that is not a Soulslike, VR game or handheld game.

The images were released to journalists as part of the Summer Games Fest. Based on this, they wrote previews that can be read and seen, for example at Engadget, Easy Allies and Polygon. YouTube channel Ratatoskr said it found the uncut gameplay footage without commentary ‘on a Japanese site’ and posted it on the video platform.

It can be seen that the game revolves around a mixture of ranged and melee combat. A lock-on system helps to point those firearms in the right direction during fast action. In addition, mobility plays a major role and this also depends on the weight of the composite robot; heavier units have less jumping and flying ability, which also limits options for exploration and alternate paths, but offers more combat power. There is also a boss battle.

FromSoftware is taking a relatively new path with games

Anyone who looks at FromSoftware’s oeuvre on Wikipedia, for example, will see that the studio has almost only made so-called Soulslikes in recent years. These are games like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Since 2014, starting with Dark Souls II, that is the only type of game FromSoftware makes, with the exception of a Monster Hunter game for the Nintendo 3DS and PSVR game Déraciné. The other eight titles are all Soulslikes. Now it is working on Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which will be released for the major platforms that many of those Soulslikes were also released for: the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, and for Windows.

Earlier also came two trailers from the game. The game is scheduled to be released on August 25 this year, so interested players won’t have to wait much longer.
