The Swedish Starbreeze, from Payday 2, among others, has fired 60 employees to cut costs. With this measure, Starbreeze claims to save three million Swedish Krona per month, which is about 283,000 euros.

Starbreeze has been in the process of restructuring since 2018 and to cut costs further, the publisher is laying off 60 employees. The company currently employs two hundred and forty people. The layoffs are at the Stockholm office. The procedure should be completed in November of this year and, according to the company itself, it will save three million Swedish Krona per month, which amounts to approximately 283,000 euros. In its own words, the company has made the choice to fully focus on its ‘core business’.

The Swedish development studio and publisher, known for its work on games like Payday 2 and Overkill’s The Walking Dead, has been struggling financially for some time. For example, a month ago a message came that the publisher would not last a year at the current price and it sold several game studios and licenses to other companies.
