Framework has opened the Marketplace, a store where Framework Laptop owners can purchase repair parts and upgrades for the modular laptop. Third parties such as businesses and community members should also be able to sell items on the Marketplace.

On the Marketplace, customers can purchase the Framework Laptop itself, as well as individual components for that laptop. These include repair or replacement parts such as a screen for $179, a battery for $59 or a Wi-Fi card for $18 to 25. Not all parts are immediately available for sale, but will be available ‘soon’.

However, users can also purchase parts from the store to improve or personalize their laptop. For example, customers can purchase a new motherboard with a better processor. Here, customers can choose the i5-1135G7, i7-1165G7 or i7-1185G7. These mainboards cost $449 to $1,049. Additional storage and memory is also on sale, as well as new keyboards with different layouts and bezels with different colors.

The laptops can also be improved with the Expansion Cards. They fit in one of the laptop’s four expansion card slots. These are storage cards from $69 to $149 and Expansion Cards that add, for example, a USB-C, DisplayPort or HDMI port. These cost $9 for an additional USB port to $149 for a 1TB memory card.

Framework says it wants to bring more components to the marketplace in the coming months. In addition, external parties must be able to sell items via the marketplace. For example, the company has the Expansion Card Developer Program, where people can develop products themselves for the expansion slot of the laptop. Customers should also be able to sell new, used and refurbished products through the store.

The modular laptop with 13.5 “screen was announced earlier this year. The cheapest variant is a DIY kit for $ 749. The laptop can also be bought assembled, then it costs a minimum of $ 999. Framework gave the laptop earlier this year to sell in Europe Euro prices are not yet known.
