Battle royale game Fortnite gets several new features. As part of Chapter 5, Fortnite will get a built-in LEGO Fortnite survival crafting game, a new island, boss battles and a Solid Snake skin.

Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 5 is now available and is called Underground, Epic Games confirms on his website. Chapter 5 includes a brand new island with new locations. The island will have, among other things, a train that runs across the island during game rounds. The new playing field will also have villas and marinas. There also appear to be areas of snow. The game also gets new vehicles and weapons. Fortnite is also introducing new skins as part of a new battle pass. One of these is Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Fortnite also gets boss battles in the new chapter, which appear on the map during game rounds. Players can take on five such bosses during a game round, including Peter Griffin from Family Guy.

When players defeat a boss, they receive a medallion that automatically recharges their shields, with the drawback that all other players will see their location on the map. Players can collect multiple medallions, which gradually charge their shield faster and faster. With multiple medallions, the player’s location is also displayed more and more precisely to other players.

Epic Games and LEGO are also working on LEGO Fortnite. That game will be released on December 7 and will be playable within the ‘normal’ Fortnite game. However, few details are known about this title. The two companies are calling the game a “survival crafting” adventure on social media. The game aims to take players to ‘large open worlds’, where ‘LEGO building meets Fortnite’. Furthermore, LEGO refers to the December 7 release for further information. The company does report that LEGO Fortnite will be available on all devices on which Fortnite is already available

These two companies announced last year that they would build a ‘child-friendly metaverse’ together. Since then, the two companies have shared few details about their collaboration. It recently became possible to link Epic and LEGO accounts. LEGO already posted a teaser of LEGO Fortnite, without sharing further details.
