Game director Amy Hennig is creating a new story-driven Star Wars action-adventure game with her studio Skydance New Media in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It will be an original story in the Star Wars universe. It is unknown when the game will be released.

Skydance New Media write that and Lucasfilm Games in a news story. Hennig and her team will be developing an original story set in the Star Wars universe, so the game will not be a narration of any of the Star Wars movies, series or books. The game should be a story-driven action-adventure game, similar to the Uncharted series Hennig worked on or Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from 2019.

It is Hennig’s second time working on a Star Wars game. In 2018, Hennig worked at Visceral Games and EA Vancouver on a Star Wars game for EA, but that game, according to EA, was too linear and was scrapped. Hennig left EA as a game director to start her own studio.

Amy Hennig rose to fame as a director and producer on the Legacy of Kain series, among others, and as a creative director and writer on Naugthy Dog, where she worked on the Jak and Daxter series and the Uncharted series. Hennig left Naughty Dog in 2014, while working on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, to work on the Star Wars game.

She writes in the news story that seeing Star Wars in 1977 had a huge impact on her creative life and that she is very excited to work with Lucasfilm Games on “interactive stories in the galaxy” that she loves so much. In addition to a Star Wars game, Skydance New Media is also working on a story-driven Marvel game. That is the first game from the studio that was founded in 2019. It is not yet known when the game will be released.

In addition to Hennig’s studio, Respawn is also working on three new Star Wars games. Respawn developed Jedi: Fallen Order. The sequel to that game should be released this year or next year. The other two are a strategy game and a shooter. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are also making a Star Wars open world game.
