Nikon has for the Coolpix 5400, a digital camera with a 5.1 megapixel sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens, a new firmware has been made available. The version number has arrived at 1.4 and from now on it is possible to save photos as raw data without any kind of compression or processing. The changelog looks like this:
A RAW option has been added to the Image Quality menu. With this option selected RAW data from the CCD is saved in Nikon Electronic Image Format (NEF file) without processing or compression preserving the highest level of detail.
Corrections have been made to some English and French menu text[break]The firmware is available in two flavors:
